Fingerprint- and scratch-proof stainless steel has yet to be manufactured. Some stainless finishes show less than others, but most still require some elbow grease to get rid of marks. For regular maintenance, use warm water (or a mild detergent mixed with water) and a cloth and rinse well. Be sure to towel dry in the direction of the grain as those pesky water spots can drive you just as crazy as fingerprints can. If this doesn’t do the trick, try glass cleaner, rinsing and wiping dry. Never use an abrasive cleaner or pad that is not meant for stainless steel, and always try any new cleaning products in an inconspicuous spot. (Once again, always go with the grain and rinse well with water as residue can cause further damage.)
