I'll admit it--I'm a Say Yes to the Dress junkie and proud of it! While my dream wedding attire would be more sundress and less ball gown, I'm fascinated by women who want, nay, demand to be princesses on their big day. So no surprise that I recently found myself glued to a marathon of Say Yes to the Dress: Big Bliss, which is basically like the plus-sized sister to the original. As I watched episode after episode of plunging necklines and hip-hugging taffeta, I realized that when it comes to bridal fashions, size does matter. And that skinny girls shouldn't have all the fun! So, iPad in hand, I searched around the virtual world to find the prettiest options for voluptuous brides with real-woman curves. Here's the best of the bunch.
Sonsi: This online emporium for curvaceous ladies recently launched a bridal boutique and now carries a range of designers, including Kiyonna, Sydney's Closet and Catherines. It's truly a one-stop shop as it carries departments for mothers-of-the-bride, bridesmaids and accessories. Sizes 14-36.
Kiyonna: A strong focus on lovely lace dresses and the price points are tough to beat--everything is under $350! Check out the Analisa Lace dress, a pretty little number that feels inspired by Kate Middleton's royal gown. Sizes 10 and up.
IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel: Elegant bridal gowns in classic shapes. The retro-inspired lace numbers are particularly pretty. The shop also carries a cute collection for the wedding party--sassy cocktail numbers that reveal just the right amount of skin. Sizes 12-32.
