Makeup artist extraordinaire, Sarah Bender, has prettified many a bride and here she gives us the scoop on this year's 4 hottest wedding beauty trends.
1. That 70s Look
What: Retro-glam beauty
with thick eyeliner and head-turning lips. Complete your vintage look with a birdcage veil or a beehive updo.
How: Use a nude, beige or soft ivory eyeshadow with black liquid or kohl liner and full false eyelashes. For the cheeks, think pretty pink, rose or apricot blush and pucker up with striking red lips.
2. Classic Beauty
What: Elegant, timeless bridal makeup a la Kate Middleton at the Royal Wedding.
How: Subtle shadows that complement your complexion will make your eyes look open and bright. Warm skin tones look great with browns, bronzes, sages and golds, while cooler skin tones look amazing with ivory, celery green, pale pinks and greys. Soften your blush color by dusting cheeks with the setting powder that remains on the brush you used to set your foundation. Keep lips subtle with a shade that lightly enhances your natural lip color.
3. Smoky Eyes
What: Sexy, sultry wedding makeup that
looks stunning on all skin types.
How: You can achieve the desired smoky effect with blended browns, purples, greens, greys or blacks. (Pro tip: Do your eyes before your complexion to minimize the amount of touch-ups when you're done.) The inner rim of the eyes get lined with black kohl. Soft shades of pink or rose blush look great with smoky peepers and keep the focus on the eyes with pale pink or nude lipstick.
4. Neutral Eye + Bold Lip
What: The romantic, magical effects
of combining a flawless complexion and bold, lined lips.
How: Use soft nude or beige eye shadows and line your lids with brown, black or charcoal liner. Use a smudger or Q-Tip to smudge the liner for a softened finish. Dust cheeks with a soft shade, so that it's not competing with the bold lip. Your lips need to be crisply lined; you don't want the color to bleed into the skin around your mouth. Clear lip liners (or one that matches the lipstick shade) help guide application and seal the fabulous color.
