When something has been lost for nearly two decades, it's safe to assume it's gone for good.
Unless you have a friend with a metal detector, that is.
Nearly 17 years after losing her engagement ring, Valerie Lynch has been reunited with her 1.2 carat marquise cut sparkler. Way back in 1995, she took it off in her sister's yard -- and suddenly the ring was nowhere to be found.
Fast forward to last Sunday, when metal detector enthusiast Kent Blethen decided to search for the long lost treasure. Eventually, he found the ring under an inch of soil.
Lynch's reaction made the forty minutes of searching worthwhile.
"You hope good karma comes your way eventually," Blethen told Wicked Local Plymouth. "But no matter what, it's a great feeling."
