Jenna Eagleton and Caroline Currie were announced as the grand prize winners of the 2013 Real Maine Wedding of the Year Contest on Sunday.
The couple from Portland, Orgeon will receive $100,000 from the Maine magazine to plan the wedding of their dreams.
The two women were the first same-sex couple to enter the contest, and win the grand prize.
Their plans to get married in the fall of 2014 changed once Caroline's father, who has been sick with leukemia for about five years, told her how important it was for him to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.
The couple decided to enter the wedding contest, which would fulfill their plans for an earlier date.
Little did they know the video they submitted to the magazine's website explaining why they deserve a dream wedding would be so popular with the public who voted for them.
The wedding will take place in Kennebunkport this October.
